Post 572 in Action
This gallery features American Legion Post 572 members actively involved as a partner with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration as a member of the EC-47 History Site Commemorative Partner Program (CPP) committee established in San Angelo in 2015. Post 572 subsequently took on the host responsibilities for the Vietnam War Commemoration ceremony held in conjunction with the newly established March 29th Vietnam War Veterans Day celebrations in 2018 and 2019. Annual March 29th CPP celebrations were planned but subsequently canceled for both 2020 & 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Post 572 did host an open-air "Welcome Home" CPP ceremony as part of the All Veterans Council of Tom Green County annual Veterans Day parade in November 2020.
These selected photographs depict Post 572 actively engaged with nearly a dozen other VSO's honoring hundreds of Vietnam War veterans and their families...welcoming them home the way they should have been greeted and respected nearly 50 years ago. Gold Star and Blue Star families were also honored. We believe these photographs confirm that it is never too late to say "Welcome Home - Thank You!"
